The pontoons are made from high-quality HDPE plastic using rotational molding, making Meltex dock pontoons lightweight, seamless, and weather-resistant. The pontoons are impact-resistant, frost-resistant, and do not rust. The plastic pontoons also do not flake or corrode. The dock pontoons have pre-made screw locations for securing the pontoon to the dock. The pontoons can also be secured to the dock using support boards, straps, or cargo nets, for example. At the end of Meltex dock pontoons, there is a corked air vent, through which the pontoon can be filled as needed to achieve the desired buoyancy depth.
Note for screw installation in dock pontoons :
- Screw thickness max. 4 — 4.5 x 30 mm stainless steel, rounded head.
- No pilot hole is made for the screw, but it is screwed in directly.
- The screw must be drilled straight to avoid puncturing the pontoon's airspace.
- The screw should not be over-tightened to prevent it from sinking into the plastic.
- Fixings should only be made at the designated recess points.
- It is good practice to fill recesses at the fixing points with sealant to ensure tightness.
