The pontoons are impact-resistant, withstand frost, and do not absorb hydrogen. Plastic pontoons also do not crumble or rust. The dock pontoons have pre-drilled holes for fixing the pontoon to the dock. The pontoons can also be attached to the dock using support boards, straps, or load securing straps. At the end of Meltex dock pontoons, there is a vent hole with a cap, from which the pontoon can be filled as needed to achieve the desired buoyancy depth.
Consider the following for the pontoon's screw attachment:
- Maximum screw thickness: 4 — 4.5 x 30 mm stainless steel, ball head.
- No pilot hole is made; screw directly into place.
- The screw must be drilled straight, so it does not puncture the pontoon's air space.
- Do not overtighten the screw, so it does not sink into the plastic.
- Attachments should only be made at the designated recess points.
- Finally, it is good to fill the recesses at the attachment points with sealing compound to ensure tightness.
